This open-space apartment, with a total area of 64 m², is located on the semi-basement level of a gaioleiro building in Lisbon — a housing typology typical of the city between the late 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. The significant difference in level between the street and the rear courtyard allows natural light to enter from above.
The project occupies the space with light elements which, through their shape and materiality, divide the space and create a dialogue with the existing arches.
