The project is designed from a single volume: a shell that initially occupies the entire surface of the plot, from which mass is removed around two perpendicular axes. This creates a cross-shaped void that generates four exterior spaces. The center of the void, and the rest of the interior of the shell, are occupied by copper sheets.

The shell, with its affirmative presence, integrates the building into the urban grid proposed for the site.

It is the difference in character between these two components that defines the project’s intention: the peripheral white concrete shell, heavy and compact, and the thin copper sheets, light and permeable. Resilient materials that will age and create a patina without changing the building’s character over time. Like the courtyard of a Caravanserai: “A beautiful Soul in a humble Body.”
